This year (as last year) we are using Thornthwaite Scout Campsite for the camping and party, and paddling the river Washburn.

As usual stalls, catering and race control will be based at the top of the course.

Race Venue

There will be a clockwise one-way system in place on the roads around the Washburn area. From the top car park vehicles will turn right and drive over the dam. Vehicles/universities not adhereing to the one way system will not be allowed into the event car parks and will have to portage boats down from the public carparks.

Universities are asked to use the get out and private car park above the A59 Road Bridge. The height barrier will not be open for the public car park. Please do not park on the double yellow lines outside the height barrier.

Camping, Dinner and Party

Camping will again be at Thornthwaite Scout campsite which has hot showers and flushing toilets! It's less than 10 minutes drive from the course and you can see it on the map opposite in the top right hand corner.

The route to the campsite will be well signposted FROM THE course/A59. Please follow the signposted route from the course since other roads in the area are extremely narrow and navigation can be very tricky. The signposted route will take you up Hardisty Hill (past the cricket ground), right at the The Stone House Inn, along Harper Lane, right onto Dacre Pasture Lane and into the campsite. If you get lost please phone the campsite on 01423 780 197 (mobile reception is very patchy) and we will try and help.

There will be marshals on hand at the campsite to direct parking and point you to your camping area. Please adhere to their instructions as parking is limited and emergency vehicle access is required at all times.

Registration will take place on Saturday morning at Race Control which is at the top of the course.

Using this map

This Google Map shows the key locations for the weekend. Markers in BLUE indicate points on the river: Classic Event and Sprint Event Start; Middle Drop; and the respecitve Finish lines for both events.

Also marked on the map are the entrances to the top and bottom car parks, Race Control and the First Aid point at the Middle Drop where free tea and coffee will also be available.

Use the zoom buttons on the map to zoom in on the top and bottom of the course and see what's happening in more detail. Click on any of the markers for a description of what's there.
